A Boy named Sue

Well, my Daddy left home, when I was three,
and he didnt leave much to ma and me,
just an old guitar and an empty bottle of booze.
No, I don't blame him 'cause he ran and hit,
but the meanest thing , that he ever did,
was before he left he went and named me sue !

He must have thought, that that was quite a joke,
and he got a lots of laughs fromn a lots of folks.
It seemed I had to fight my whole life through:
Some girls would giggle and I get red,
some boy would laugh and I bust his head;
I tell you: Life ain't easy for a boy named sue ...

Well it was Gatlinburg and it was mid july,
I just hit town and my throat was dry,
I thaught I'd stop and have myself a brew.
In an old saloon in a street of mud,
There at the table, dealing stud,
sat that dirty meangy dog, that named me Sue !

I knew that snake was my own sweet dad
from a worn out picture that my mother had:
I knew that scar on his cheek and this evil eye.
He was big and bad and grey and old,
I looked at him and my blood ran cold.
And I said: Hello ! How do you Do ! My name is Sue ! You gonna die !

Year ! That's what I told him ...

Well, I hit him hard right between the eyes,
He went down but to my surprise,
Come up with a knife and cut of a peace of my ear !
Well, I busted a chair right across his teeth,
and we went through the wall into the stree,
kicking and gulging in the mud the blood and the beer !

Well, I tell you, I faught tougher men,
but I really can't remember, when !
He kicked like a mule and he bit like a crocodile,
I heard him laugh and then I heard him curse,
he went for his gun, but I pulled mine first,
He stood there, looking at me and I saw hime smile.

And he said: Son, the world is rough,
and if a man's got to make it, he's got to be tough
And I knew I wouldn't be there to help you along.
So I gave you this name and I said goodbye,
and I knew, you'd have to get tough or die,
and it's that name that helped to make you strong !

Well you just fought a hell of a fight
and I know, You hate me and you got the right,
to kill me know and I wouldn't blame you, if you do.
But you ought to thank me, before I die,
for the gravel in the guts and the spit in the eye,
'cause I'm the mutherfucker, that named you Sue !

Year ! That's what he told me ...

What could I do ?! What could I do ?!
Well, I got all choked up and put down my gun,
I called him pa, and he called me son,
and I come away with a different point of view.
Well I think about him now and then,
every time I fight and every time I win
And if I ever have a son, I think I'll name him ...
Bill or George, anything but SUE !!

American pie

A long long time ago
I can still remember how that music used to make me smile
And I knew if I had my chance
That I could make those people dance
And maybe they'd be happy for a while.

But February made me shiver
With every paper I'd deliver
Bad news on the doorstep
I couldn't take one more step

I can't remember if I cried
When I read about his widowed bride
But something touched me deep inside
The day the music died

Refrain:
So Bye-bye, Miss American Pie
Drove my chevy to the levee
But the levee was dry
And them good old boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
Singin' this'll be the day that I die
This'll be the day that I die

Did you write the Book of Love
And do you have faith in God above
If the Bible tells you so
Do you believe in rock 'n roll
Can music save your mortal soul
And can you teach me how to dance real slow

Well, I know that you're in love with him
'Cause I saw you dancin' in the gym
You both kicked off your shoes
Man, I dig those rhythm and blues

I was a lonely teenage broncin' buck
With a pink carnation and a pickup truck
But I knew I was out of luck
The day the music died

Refrain:
I started singin' Bye-bye, Miss American Pie ...

Now for ten years we've been on our own
And moss grows fat on a rollin' stone
But that's not how it used to be
When the jester sang for the King and Queen
In a coat he borrowed from James Dean
And a voice that came from you and me

Oh, and while the King was looking down
The jester stole his thorny crown
The courtroom was adjourned
No verdict was returned
And while Lennon read a book of Marx
The quartet practiced in the park
And we sang dirges in the dark
The day the music died

Refrain:
We were singing Bye-bye, Miss American Pie ...

Helter Skelter in a summer swelter
The Byrds flew off with a fallout shelter
Eight miles high and falling fast
It landed foul out on the grass
The players tried for a forward pass
With the jester on the sidelines in a cast

Now the half-time air was sweet perfume
While the Sergeants played a marching tune
We all got up to dance
Oh, but we never got the chance
'Cause the players tried to take the field
The marching band refused to yield
Do you recall what was revealed
The day the music died

Refrain:
We started singing Bye-bye, Miss American Pie ...

Oh, and there we were all in one place
A generation Lost in Space
With no time left to start again
So come on, Jack be nimble, Jack be quick
Jack Flash sat on a candlestick
'Cause fire is the Devil's only friend

Oh, and as I watched him on the stage
My hands were clenched in fists of rage
No angel born in hell
Could break that Satan's spell
And as the flames climbed high into the night
To light the sacrifical rite
I saw Satan laughing with delight
The day the music died

Refrain:
He was singing Bye-bye, Miss American Pie ...

I met a girl who sang the blues
And I asked her for some happy news
But she just smiled and turned away
I went down to the sacred store
Where I'd heard the music years before
But the man there said the music woudn't play

And in the streets the children screamed
The lovers cried, and the poets dreamed
But not a word was spoken
The church bells all were broken
And the three men I admire most
The Father, Son and the Holy Ghost
They caught the last train for the coast
The day the music died

Refrain:
And they were singing Bye-bye, Miss American Pie ...

They were singing bye-bye, Miss American Pie
Drove my chevy to the levee
But the levee was dry
Them good old boys were drinking whiskey and rye
Singin' this'll be the day that I die

Bruce's Philosopher song

Immanuel Kant was a real pissant,
who was very rarely stable.
Heidegger, Heidegger was a boozy beggar,
who could think you under the table !

David Hume could outconsume
Schopenhauer and Hegel
And Wittgenstein was a beery swine,
who was just as sloshed as Schegel.

low:
There's nothing Nietzsche couldn't teach yer
'bout the raising of the wrist
Socrates himself was permanently pissed.

getting faster:
John Stuart Mill of his own free will
On half a pint of Shandy was particularly ill
Plato, they say, could stick it a way
half a crate of Whiskey every day.

Aristotle, Aristotle was a bugger for the bottle,
Hobbs was found of his dram.
And Rene Descart was a drunken fart:
I drink therefore I am !

low:
But Socrates himself is particularly missed !
A lovely little thinker, but a buggar when he's pissed !

Danny boy

Oh Danny boy, the pipes the pipes are calling,
From glen to glen and on the mountainside.
The summer's gone and all the leaves are falling,
'Tis you must go, 'tis you must go and I must bide !

But come you back, when summer's in the meadow,
Or when the valley's hush and white with snow !
Then I'll be there in sunshine or in shadow,
Oh Danny Boy, Oh Danny Boy, I love you so !

And if you come, when all the flowers are dying
And I am dead, as dead I well may be
You'll come and find the place where I am lying
And kneel and say an "Ave" there for me.

And I shall hear, tho' soft you tread above me
And all my dreams will warm and sweeter be
If you'll not fail to tell me that you love me
I simply sleep in peace until you come to me.

Diggers

In sixteen-fourty-nine, St.Georgias hill,
A ragged band, they call the diggers came to show the peoples will.
They defied the landlords, they defied the laws,
They were the disposessed reclaiming what was there's !

We come in peace they said, to dig and sow
We come to work the land in common
and to make the wasteground grow !
this earth divided, we will make whole,
so it can be a common treasury for all !

The sin of property we do disdain,
no man has any right to buy or sell the aerth for private game !
By theft and murder they took the land,
now everywhere the walls spring up at their command !

They make the laws to chain us well,
The clergy dazzle us with heaven or they damn us into hell.
We will not worship the god they serve,
The god of greed, who feeds the rich, while people starve !

We work, we eat together, we need no swords,
We will not bow to the masters or pay rent to the lords.
We are free people, though we are poor.
You diggers all stand up for glory, stand up now !

From the man of property the orders came,
they send the hired men and troopers to wipe out the diggers claim.
Tear down their cottages, destroy their corn,
they were dispersed, but still the vision lingers on !

You poor take courage, you rich take care:
This earth was made a common treasury for everyone to share,
all things in common, all people one.
We come in peace the orders came to cut them down !

Griechischer Wein

Refrain:
Griechischer Wein ...

Heute hier morgen dort

Heute hier morgen dort,
bin kaum da, muß ich fort,
hab mich niemals deswegen beklagt;
hab es selbst so gewählt,
nie die Jahre gezählt,
nie nach gestern und morgen gefragt.

Refrain:
Manchmal träume ich schwer,
und dann denk ich, es wär
Zeit zu bleiben und nun
was ganz andres zu tun.
So vergeht Jahr um Jahr,
und es ist mir längst klar,
daß nichts bleibt, daß nichts bleibt,
wie es war.

Daß man mich kaum vermißt,
schon nach Tagen vergißt,
wenn ich längst wieder anderswo bin,
stört und kümmert mich nicht,
vielleicht bleibt mein Gesicht
doch dem ein oder anderen im Sinn.

Refrain:
Manchmal träume ich schwer ...

Fragt mich einer warum
ich so bin, bleib ich stumm,
denn die Antwort darauf fällt mir schwer,
denn was neu ist, wird alt,
und was gestern noch galt,
gilt schon heut oder morgen nicht mehr.

Refrain:
Manchmal träume ich schwer ...

Irish Rover

On the fourth of July eighteen-hundred and six
We set sail from the sweet cove if Cork.
We were sailing away with a Cargo of bricks
for the grand city hall of New York.
We'd an elegant craft it was rigged for and 'aft.
And how the trade winds drove her !
She had 23 masts and she stood sev'ral blasts,
and we called her the Irish Rover !

There was Barney McGee from the banks of the lee,
There was Hoogan from County Tyrone,
There was Johnny McGurk, who was scared stiff of work
and a chap from Wesmeath named Malone
There was slugger O'Tool, who was drunk as a rule
and fightin' Bill Tracy from Dover
and the fourth McCann from the banks of the bann
was the skipper of the Irish Rover

We had one million bags of the best Sligo Rags
We had two million barrels of bone
We had three million bales of old nanny goat tails
We had four million barrels of stone
We had five million hogs, six million dogs
and seven million barrels of porter
We had eight million sides of old blind horses hides
in the hold of the Irish Rover

We had sailed seven years, when the measels broke out
and our ship lost it's way in a fog
and the whole of the crew was reduced down to two:
'twas myself and the captains old dog !
Then the ship struck a rock, O Lord what a shock !
And nearly tumbled over.
Turned nine times around and the poor old dog was drowned
One, Two, Three !
I'm the last of the Irish Rover !

Killing me softly

I heard he sang a good song,
I heard he had a style
and so I came to see him
and listen for a while.
And there he was this young boy,
a stranger to my eyes ...

Refrain:
Strumming my pain with his fingers,
singing my life with his words,
killing me softly with his song,
killing me softly with his song,
telling my whole life with his words,
killing me softly with his song.

I felt all flushed with fever,
embarassed by the crowd.
I felt he found my letters
and read each one out loud.
I prayed, that he would finish,
but he just kept right on ...

Refrain:
Strumming my pain ...

He sang as if he new me
in all my dark despair
and then he looked right though me,
as if I wasn't there.
But there he was this young man,
singing out clear and strong ...

Refrain:
Strumming my pain ...

Leaving on a jet plane

All my bags are packed, Im ready to go
I'm standing here outside your door,
I hate, to wake you up and say goodbye
But the sun is dawning, its early morning,
the taxi's waiting, he's blowing his horn.
Already I'm so lonesome I could die ...

Refrain:
So kiss me and smile for me,
tell me that you'll wait for me,
hold me like you'll never let me go !
'Cause I'm leaving on a jetplane,
don't know when I'll be back again.
Oh babe, I hate to go !

There's so many times, I let you down,
so many times, I played around.
I tell you now, they don't mean a thing !
Every note I wrote, I wrote for you,
every song I sang, I sang for you !
When I'll come back you'll wear my wedding ring !

Refrain:
So kiss me ...

Now the time has come, to leave you.
One more time please let me kiss you,
Then close Your eyes and I'll be on my way !
Think about the days to come,
when won't have to leave you all alone,
about the time, when I won't have to say ...

Refrain:
So kiss me ...

Loch Lomond

By yon bonnie banks and by yon bonnie braes,
where the sun shines bright on Loch Lomond
where me and my true love were ever won't to gae
on the bonnie bonnie banks of Loch Lomond

Refrain:
Oh you take the high road and I take the low road
and I'll be in Scottland afore ye !
But me and my true love will never meet again
on the bonnie bonnie banks of Loch Lomond.

'Twas there that we parted in yon shady glen
on the steep steep side o' Ben Lomond
Where in deep purple hue the Hielan' hills we view
and the moon coming out in the gloaming.

Refrain:
Oh you take the high road ...

The wee birdies sing and the wild flowers spring,
while in sunshine the waters are sleepin'
But the broken hard will ken nae second spring again
tho' the waefu' may cease frae their greetin !

Refrain:
Oh you take the high road ...

Lumberjack song

Refrain:
I'm a lumberjack and I'm Okay,
I sleep all night and I work all day !

I cut down trees, I eat my lunch, I go to the lavatory,
on wednesday I go shopping and have buttered scones for tea !

Refrain:

I'm a lumberjack ...

I cut down trees, I skip and jump, I like to press wild flowers,
I put on womens clothing and hang around in bars !

Refrain:

I'm a lumberjack ...

I cut down trees, I wear high heels suspendies and bra
I'd like to be a girlie just like my dear papa !

I'm a lumberjack ...

Noah

Refrain:
Noah found praise in the eyes of the lord,
Noah found praise in the eyes of the lord,
Noah found praise in the eyes of the lord,
and he landed high and dry !

Refrain:
Noah found praise in the eyes ...

Refrain:
Noah found praise in the eyes ...

Du weisst nie, was Du kannst, bevor Du es versuchst !

Refrain:
Noah found praise in the eyes ...

Refrain:
Noah found praise in the eyes ...

Refrain:
Noah found praise in the eyes ...

Refrain:
Noah found praise in the eyes ...

Refrain:
Noah found praise in the eyes ...

Riot Squad

When we were at school I thought he had it sussed,
fighting the law with the rest of us:
Smoking, drinking, acting cool
'til they started treating him like a fool.
Then he stayed on his own, for most of the time,
dreaming dreams of a live of crime.
In and out of trouble he cheated and lied
but who'd have thougt he joined the other side ?

Refrain:
He's in the riot squad ! (
Chorus:ooooooohoooooooohoooh)
the wanna-fight squad ! (ooooooohoooooooohoooh)
the shoot-on-sight-squad ! (ooooooohoooooooohoooh)
For law and right!

Dancing razor with the boys in blue,
its amazing what a few weeks can do !
Out in his car, out on the street,
south to the river in the frontline beat !

Refrain:
He's in the riot squad ...

Cracking heads it was just a game,
a finger was pointed, he've got the blame !
Back where he started, he ain't got a pound,
queuing with the sort he used to kick around !

Refrain:
He's in the riot squad ...

Rocky

Son of a Preacherman

Billy Ray was a preacher's son
and when his daddy would visit he'd come along
When they gathered 'round and started talkin'
cousin billy would take me walkin'
out through the backyard we'd go walkin'
then he looked into my eyes
the lord lost him by surprise

Refrain:
The only one who could ever reach me
was the son of a preacherman
The only boy who could ever teach me
was the son of a preacherman
Yes he was, he was

Being good wasn't always easy
no matter how hard I tried
when he started sweet talkin' to me
he'd come and tell me everything is allright
he'd kiss and tell me everything is allright
can I get away again tonight?

Refrain:
The only one ...

How will I remember the look that's in his eyes?
stealing kisses from me on the slide
takin' time to make time
tellin' me that he's all mine
learning from each other's knowin'
lookin' to see how much we'd grown

Refrain:
The only one ...

Wann wirds mal wieder richtig Sommer

Refrain:
Wann wirds mal wieder richtig Sommer -

wer durfte machte FKK.
Doch heut, heut summen alle Mücken laut im Chor.

Refrain:
Wann wirds ...

Der Winter war der Reinfall des Jahrhunderts,
Nur über tausend Meter gab es Schnee.
Mein Milchmann sagt; Das Klima hier, wen wunderts,

Refrain:
Wann wirds ...

Wonderful World

I see trees of green, red roses too,
I see them bloom for me and you,
And I think to myself: What a wonderful world !
I see skies of blue and clowdes of white,
the bright blessed day, the dark sacred night
And I think to myself: What a wonderful world !

The colors of the rainbow, so pretty in the sky
are also on the faces of the people passing by.
I see friends shaking hands, sayin: How do you do ?
They're really sayin: I love you

I hear babies cry, I watch them grow,
they'll learn much more, than I'll ever know,
And I think to myself: What a wonderful world.
Yes I Think to myself: What a wonderful world !

You're so square

You don't like crazy music, you don't like rockin' bands
You just want to go to a movie show, and sit their holdin' hands
You're so square, baby I don't care

I don't know why my heart blips, I only know it does
I wonder why I love you baby, I guess its just because
You're so square, baby I don't care

You don't know any dance steps, but I do-a-hoo-hoo
I only know why I love you like I do-a-do-a-do-a-do

I don't know why my heart blips, I only know it does
I wonder why I love you baby, I guess its just because
You're so square, baby I don't care
